Garage door cable repair
When a cable snaps or slips off its drum, the door lifts on one side and hangs crooked. Stop using the opener: it can bend the door or pull it out of the track.

Signs this is your problem
- The door is crooked, one side higher than the other.
- A cable hangs loose beside the door.
- The cable looks frayed or rusty at the bottom corner.
- The door jerked and stopped halfway.
What we do
We secure the door, take the tension off the springs and replace both cables, never just one, so they stretch evenly. We check the drums and the bottom brackets, where rust starts in Southwest Florida's humidity, and replace a bracket only if it's actually corroded. Then we rebalance and test.
Why cables break here
The bottom of the cable sits in the corner of the door, where rainwater and salt collect. Most snapped cables we see rusted from the bottom up. A coat of lubricant at every tune-up adds years.
Only the cable?
A snapped cable doesn't mean you need new springs, new rollers and a new opener. If a quote bundles all of that together, ask to see what's worn on each part.
Questions about cable repair
About an hour. If a bottom bracket rusted through too, add about fifteen minutes.
No. The door can twist in the track or drop on the side without a cable. Leave it where it is and call.
Door stuck right now?
Call or text and a person in Estero answers. We'll tell you if it's safe to touch, when we can be there and how long the fix usually takes, before anyone drives over.
