Leaving for the summer?
The garage door is the biggest opening in the house, and it sits alone through hurricane season. Here's a short plan built around your dates.
Your garage door, month by month
Pick when you leave and when you're back. Nothing is saved.
Your plan
Away 7 months, 5 of them in hurricane season.
Before you leave
- Book a door check two to four weeks before you fly out.
- Lock the door down so no remote can open it, and give your house watcher a temporary keypad code.
While you're away
- If a storm is coming, your house watcher calls us and we text you what we did.
- You're gone through the peak, August to October: this is when a locked, balanced door matters most.
When you're back
- Before you use the opener, lift the door halfway by hand. If it stays put, the balance is good.
Two quick questions
If nobody needs the garage, yes, and slide the manual lock. If your house watcher uses it, leave it on and give them a temporary keypad code.
Your house watcher, or you from out of state, calls or texts us. We check the door, secure it if needed and text you photos.
Door stuck right now?
Call or text and a person in Estero answers. We'll tell you if it's safe to touch, when we can be there and how long the fix usually takes, before anyone drives over.
