Garage door opener repair and installation
The motor hums but nothing moves, the light blinks, or the opener is older than your car. We'll tell you whether a repair makes sense or a new one does, with both options side by side.

Signs this is your problem
- The motor hums but the door doesn't move.
- The opener light blinks and the door won't close.
- The remote and the wall button both stopped working.
- The door starts, stops and reverses on its own.
Repair or replace?
We check the spring first, because a weak spring kills openers. Then the drive gear, the logic board and the travel limits. Under ten years old, a repair usually makes sense. Over twelve with a big repair, a new opener often does. You'll see both options side by side.
Battery backup, for storm season
After a hurricane the power can stay off for days, and without a battery the car stays inside until someone lifts the door by hand. Every opener we install for Estero comes with a battery backup option, and most new ones connect to your phone, so you can check the door from up north.
Check the outlet first
If nothing happens at all, no light and no hum, check the outlet and the GFCI in the garage. A tripped GFCI is the most common "dead opener" call we get.
Questions about opener repair & installation
Two to three hours, including the sensors, the wall button and programming your remotes and car.
Most openers from the last ten years connect with a Wi-Fi hub, and newer models have it built in. Useful when you spend summer out of state.
In Estero we recommend it. After a storm the power can be out for days.
Door stuck right now?
Call or text and a person in Estero answers. We'll tell you if it's safe to touch, when we can be there and how long the fix usually takes, before anyone drives over.
